Games are awesome!

Not only are games fun but many times they teach important lessons as they entertain.  For example, even the simplest Shooter or Fighting game teaches perseverance.  Most people probably don't realize this.  But, think of it this way, what else would you call playing a level over and over 50 times straight until you finally beat it?  That's perseverance!  However, this web site is based on gleaning another of games' secret lessons -- wealth-building!

In many game genres, some form of wealth-building is required.

It takes a lot to make a game fun and engaging.  For example, many games feature fast and furious action, or a building and suspenseful story-line.  However, when a game also includes shopping for items, weapons and armor upgrades, and character recruitment costs, wealth-building often becomes a necessary precursor to victory.

As in gaming, as in life!

Wealth-building is an important skill to have in real life, too.  By building wealth, you would allow yourself the means to live a more comfortable and enjoyable life.  And, once you have achieved financial freedom, you could either quit your job, if you hate it, or you could keep your job, if you like it, knowing that your financial security doesn't depend on it.  Also, you could even choose to work part-time, which would allow you to have more time to do what you want.

Getting the good out of your gaming?

So, are you a successful game-player?  Have you conquered the final scenario of a Real-Time Strategy Game, like Blizzard Entertainment®'s Warcraft® II: Tides of Darkness™?  Have you traded items and rented out property in a Role Playing Game, like Lionhead Studios Ltd's Fable™?  Have you beaten your companions in a friendly Board Game, like Parker Brothers®' Monopoly®?  Great!  But, have you used any of the wealth-building lessons you've learned through game-playing in real life?

Games can't teach you everything you need to know about business, real estate, or investing money, but they can get you motivated to learn about the possibilities.  And, because it is much easier to learn about something when you want to learn about it as opposed to when you don't really care, this is where the links to those useful resources, some of which I call the cheat codes and strategy guides to wealth, will come into play.  You see, a financial education is essential to translating your game learned wealth-building skills into real-world wealth-building skills.  And, with a proper financial education, you will be able to see opportunities or at least understand financial advice, which is becoming increasingly important in today's world.

Is investing in your future?

Are you aware that President George W. Bush voiced concerns about the Social Security system, back in early 2005, and that he favored introducing voluntary personal accounts as a means to fix the problem?  These accounts would have provided ownership, choice, and opportunities for younger workers; and responsibilities for managing them as well.  If you are aware of this fact, then, you know that you should consider developing your financial skills today!  (More recent news items have been shared in the Play2wealth Newsletter that show why we all should have concerns about our future financial security.)

Gaming teaches great habits for success!

As gamers, we automatically learn many important concepts which are required for success in life as we play.  For example, we learn to:

• Try new things -- surely, we all have played more than one game in our lives.
• Be careful -- we know that it's always important to remember to save every now and then.
• Learn from our mistakes -- the first time we play a game, we stink -- the fiftieth time, we're masters!
• Never give up -- we also know that, the tougher the challenge, the sweeter the victory.
